How ClearCorrect® Works
Instead of using metal brackets and wires to move your teeth, ClearCorrect® uses a series of clear aligners to slowly shift your teeth to their new places. You will wear each set for about two weeks before moving on to the next one. Over time, your teeth will gradually move to their aligned locations. Unlike traditional braces, you won’t need to have anything tightened throughout your treatment, but you will still need to come to the office to ensure that the treatment is going as planned.
Indications for ClearCorrect®

ClearCorrect® can correct a variety of different alignment issues. Here are some of the most common ones:
Crowded Teeth
For teeth that have become crowded and/or overlapping, ClearCorrect® is an excellent solution. Clear aligners apply gentle pressure to different parts of the teeth to shift them to a more aligned position. This helps to prevent problems, like cavities and gum disease, that are common in people who have overcrowded teeth.
Gaps Between Teeth
When teeth are too far apart, gaps can become apparent. They also put you at much higher risk for oral health issues and tooth damage due to food debris and plaque becoming easily trapped and more difficult to remove. ClearCorrect® can move your teeth to be the perfect distance apart.
Bite Alignment
If your bite is misaligned, you can develop issues, like temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) and bruxism (teeth clenching and grinding). ClearCorrect® is effective when it comes to correcting overbites, underbites, crossbites, and more!
The Benefits of ClearCorrect®

If it’s determined that you make a good candidate for the treatment, here are some of the benefits that you can expect to experience:
- Comfort: No brackets and wires mean no soft-tissue irritation. Occasional discomfort is normal, but it’s short-lived and easily manageable. You can even start a new set of aligners before bed so you can sleep through the initial soreness.
- No Eating Restriction: As long as you remove your aligners beforehand and take the time to brush and floss before putting them back in, you can eat pretty much anything you want.
- Discreet: Clear aligners are virtually undetectable. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to tell that you’re wearing them.
How Much Does ClearCorrect® Cost?

Many factors contribute to the cost of your ClearCorrect® treatment, like the complexity of your misalignment and bite issues, your age, and how often you wear your aligners. To find out exactly how much your treatment will cost, schedule an initial consultation with us. This way, Dr. Palmer will give you a cost estimate and take the time to discuss your financial options with you. At Palmer Dental Group of Houston, we are proud to be in-network with several popular dental insurance plans, and we work with third-party financiers, including CareCredit and Wells Fargo Health Advantage Financing, that allow you to pay for treatment in manageable monthly installments with little to no interest. Does ClearCorrect Hurt?
Unfortunately, many patients are hesitant to start clear aligner treatment because they are worried it will hurt. While orthodontic treatment of any kind comes with some soreness as your teeth are being moved, ClearCorrect is significantly more comfortable than traditional orthodontics since they don’t have metal brackets or wires. Plus, the materials the trays are crafted from are smooth and custom-made to fit your mouth, so it’s very likely you’ll go through your entire treatment without experiencing any irritation to the soft tissue in your mouth.
What Happens After ClearCorrect?
At the end of your ClearCorrect treatment, your teeth will be perfectly aligned. To keep them in place, you need to wear a retainer. Fortunately, these orthodontic appliances are just as discreet and comfortable as your ClearCorrect trays. Perhaps even more important, they can prevent your teeth from drifting into their previous positions (a phenomenon known as orthodontic relapse). That’s why we encourage our patients to make wearing theirs a life-long best practice.
Can You Eat with ClearCorrect?
You can eat whatever you’d like with ClearCorrect since there aren’t any dietary restrictions! With that said, there are a few things you should keep in mind when it comes to your meals. First, do your best to keep added sugar to a minimum. If you develop a cavity, then your treatment will need to be put on hold temporarily so it can be fixed. Second, you need to wear your trays for 20-22 hours a day, so it’s important to be mindful of your mealtimes. Dedicating 30 minutes for breakfast, 30 minutes for lunch, and 30 minutes for dinner is a great place to start!
Can You Get ClearCorrect After Braces?
It’s possible! For some patients, their misalignment is severe enough that they need to start their orthodontic treatment with traditional braces. Fortunately, hybrid treatments are often possible in this case, which allows you to finish your teeth-straightening journey with clear aligners. Of course, the decision on what is best for your smile goals will ultimately be up to you and your dentist. So, don’t hesitate to ask if this is a possibility at your initial consultation!
Who is Not Eligible for ClearCorrect?
There are a few patients who are not eligible for ClearCorrect, which is one of the reasons the initial consultation is so important. For example, children under the age of 13 may not have all of their adult teeth yet, making them not a candidate. If there is an existing oral health concern, like a cavity or gum disease, then that will also need to be addressed before you start clear aligner treatment. Lastly, if your misalignment is too severe to be corrected with ClearCorrect, then we will recommend traditional braces instead (at least at the beginning of your treatment).
